A spoken claim is a claim. When an officer says "your credit score does not scare me, we approve everyone" into a phone camera, the video carries the same regulatory weight as a printed ad making the same promise, and it is likely to draw the same finding: an unsubstantiated claim that misrepresents underwriting.
Why video findings are different
Nobody proofreads speech. Written posts pass through at least one moment of typing and rereading. Video is conversational by design, and short-form formats reward exactly the kind of confident, absolute statements that advertising rules exist to check. Three places violations hide:
- The spoken track: rate quotes, approval promises, "guaranteed" anything, waived-fee offers. If a specific rate or payment is spoken, trigger-term obligations follow.
- On-screen text: captions, stickers, and overlays are advertising copy. A rate flashed for two seconds is still a stated rate.
- The frame itself: what is visible matters, from a former employer's branding on a shirt to a whiteboard with payment math in the background.
The compliance file problem
Video also strains recordkeeping. A finding against a video needs the video preserved as it ran, a transcript of what was said, and the timestamped claim, because by the time an examiner asks, the post may be edited or gone. A screenshot of a thumbnail proves nothing.
What good practice looks like
- Review video by full transcript, not by spot-checking.
- Read on-screen text frame by frame, the way a viewer with a pause button can.
- Archive the video, the transcript, and the review outcome together.
- Apply the same standard to every language your officers record in.
Audit Hound transcribes and reviews every video an officer posts, quotes the spoken claim in the finding, and preserves the captured evidence for five years, in line with the retention practice we hold across all monitored content.
